The Media Encryption feature gives ntouch customers the option to encrypt the video, audio, and text in their VRS and P2P calls. DTLS (Datagram Transport Layer) technology provides end-to-end encrypton of all media in P2P and VRS calls. When an active videophone call is encrypted, users will see a media encryption icon (a padlock) appear on the In-Call screen. By selecting to see the call status or by tapping on the icon, the user can see a message stating that the call is encrypted.
Encryption occurs when both endpoints encrypted their calls.
This feature is supported on the 9.2 Mobile and Desktop apps and 1.7 ntouch VP2.
- If an unencrypted endpoint makes a call to encrypted endpoint, the calling endpoint will see a dialog stating the encryption requirement with options:
- Call with encryption
- Send a SignMail
- Call is not Encrypted dialog will appear on the calling encrypted endpoint when calling endpoint that does not support encryption (i.e., a Sorendon endpoint earlier than 9.2/1.7, ntouch VP1, or a third-party endpoint)
Enable Media Encryption
- Select Settings > Call Options > Privacy.
- Check the box for Encrypt my calls?
