Voice Carry Over (VCO)

Overview

ntouch VP2’s Voice Carry Over (VCO) calling feature gives you the option to make either 1-Line or 2-Line VCO calls. ntouch VP2 has two built-in microphones to provide improved audio quality for your 1-Line VCO calls.

To Turn On the Feature

  1. Start at the Home screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Call Options.
  4. Check Voice Carry Over.
  5. You can use either 1-line VCO or 2-line VCO.
    • If you select 2-line VCO, you must enter a call back phone number of the voice telephone you will be using.
  6. Press the Home key on the remote control

To Make a 1-Line VCO Call

  1. When the call is answered, the interpreter will see that you are making a VCO call. The interpreter will then call the hearing person.
  2. When connected, you can speak to the person you called using your own voice. The audio picked up by the microphone in ntouch VP’s Remote Camera Unit (RCU) will be sent with the video signal. The interpreter will sign the hearing person’s part of the conversation to you.
  3. If you do not want to use VCO for any call, just tell the interpreter that you do not want to make a VCO call. The interpreter will not connect the voice call. Instead, the interpreter will place a regular SVRS call to the hearing number you dialed.

To Make a 2-Line VCO Call

  1. When the call is answered, the interpreter will see that you are making a VCO call and will place a voice call to your Callback number. You must answer that voice call and then wait.
  2. After you answer the voice call to your Callback number, the interpreter will then call the hearing person. When the hearing person answers, you can start speaking.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Incoming call 1-Line VCO does not work
    • Add the contact to your Phonebook with 1-Line VCO option enabled.
    • Inform VI (Video Interpreter) to have 1-Line VCO enabled for the call.
  • The interpreter and hearing caller cannot hear me clearly
    • Move closer to the microphone in the Remote Camera Unit to reduce noise distortion.
  • The voice was dropped in the middle of a call
    • The VI will be able to reconnect the call.
  • You hear an echoing sound when using audio with ntouch VP2
    • Move RCU (Remote Camera Unit) device until the echoes stop.
